Laser Hair Removal

How Does PrimeLase Work?

Using a specific wavelength of light that is selectively absorbed by the melanin surrounding the hair follicle, the laser is applied to the skin and the heat is conducted down to the base of the follicle and coagulates or cuts of the blood flow to the follicle.

At the same time the cooling technology cools the skin to protect and avoid any damage to the surrounding skin. The hair will be destroyed and removed permanently and over the next week will fall out leaving the skin hair free and smooth.

Laser only works on dark hair, it cannot detect White, Grey or Red hair.

Is it permanent?

We can permanently remove between 80-90 % of the hair permanently. However any hormonal changes can cause new hairs to grow that will require top up sessions maybe 6-18 months after the course has finished, (some people don’t need any).

Biological factors can influence your results, such as PCOS, recent pregnancy, undiagnosed hormone imbalance, as well as supplements such as; biotin, folic acid, B12 and heredity factors. This may mean you need maintenance sessions.

These hairs would be sporadic and never like they were before.

How many treatments are required?

The visible hair will be removed with each treatment.

90% people only need 8 treatments, but some require 10.

Laser hair removal is effective on hairs in the growing stage or visible on the skin.

At any one time 70% of hairs in the skin are dormant and not visible on the surface.

How long is the wait between treatments?

Face treatments are scheduled 4-8 weeks apart

Hollywood and under arm appointments are scheduled 6-12 weeks apart

Arms/legs/back and stomach are scheduled 8-12 weeks apart.

Can I get a wax between sessions?

The more corse the hair the better the result, so you must shave between sessions.

For best results its recommended you shave the day/night before treatment.

If you wax, thread, pluck or use hair removal cream, the laser between sessions the laser will not be as effective.

Does it hurt?

Most clients find treatment comfortable, as PrimeLase laser system incorporates advanced integrated cooling.

Its patented ‘cool freeze’ skin cooling technology keeps the skin at a cool temperature throughout treatment protecting the skin and ensuring a more comfortable experience.

It is no worse than a wax and is compared to the feeling of an elastic band pinging against the skin.

Am I a suitable candidate?

We treat both men and women who wish to remove unwanted hair.

During your consultation we will ask you to complete a full health questionnaire to identify any contraindications.

If you suffer from Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) we can treat effectively but you will require ongoing maintenance treatment, which will usually be one session a year, after the course is complete. If you are a PCOS sufferer, your maintenance sessions will be discounted by 20%.

Laser will not detect Red, White or Grey hair, it is only suitable for dark hair.

If you plan to expose the treated area to sun, during your course of treatment you are also unsuitable, as tanning increases the melanin in the skin, laser is attracted to melanin, so this will make is harder for the laser to distinguish the hair and can result in burning of the skin.

It is extremely important for your own safety you avoid the area being exposed to the sun and it is your duty to inform us if this has been unavoidable. If this is the case you will be turned away without treatment and a 50% charge of that session will incur.

You may also need extra sessions due to the hair growth cycle, resulting in costing you more money.
